Next Thursday, April 6, the shop will be open late as we explore the world of sherry, in a fascinating seminar and tasting which starts at 6:30 p.m. We’ll also be open for general shopping, aside from the tasting, so stop in for paella ingredients, charcuterie, cheese, wine, or groceries, even if you’re not attending the event. The store will be open until 7:30 p.m. that evening.
Sherry has been rediscovered by savvy craft cocktail mixologists, giving this venerable and endangered wine a new lease on life. It makes so much sense. Its range of bone dry to unctuously rich offers so many possibilities. Lower in alcohol than a spirit, using sherry as a base allows one to enjoy a couple of drinks without becoming inebriated.
For centuries, a plain copa of sherry has been the wine of choice in Spain’s Andalucia. On a scorching afternoon, while nibbling on a plate of fried shrimp, it’s hard to imagine anything better than a chilled glass of fino to accompany it.
We’re excited to share our knowledge and love of this fascinating, complex and somewhat misunderstood wine on Thursday, April 6 at 6:30 p.m. Join us at Paris-Madrid Grocery for a sherry tasting and seminar, accompanied by an assortment of Spanish tapa snacks. We are super excited to be sharing four very old Osborne sherries, one from a solera that started in 1790. It’s rare for anyone outside the sherry trade to have the opportunity to taste sherries of this age, and to experience the profound effect of long aging. The cost is $10.00 per person, which will be applied towards purchases of any sherry.
We’ll be showcasing younger sherries as well, that will contrast with the old vintages to provide a great overview of this magnificent beverage.
Please register for the tasting in advance by responding to this email with credit card information, or call the shop to sign up, at 206.682.0679. Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to learn about the world of sherry!
