New holiday sweets arrived. This year, we brought in “Serie Oro” Polvorónes and Mantecados, in addition to the regular style. “Serie Oro” is truly the gold standard when it comes to Spanish Christmas cookies. Made by hand from a historic recipe, each cookie is individually wrapped and numbered. Creamy, fresh and intensely flavored, they are 50% almond. Mazapan from Spain. Made in Consuegra where Don Quixote famously tilted at windmills, Peces has been producing these traditional marzipan figurines since 1915. New this year is an assortment of mazapan and holiday sweets in a gorgeous ribbon-wrapped box. Another favorite now available is La Mallorquina Hojaldres, a honey and puff pastry sweet from Leon in Northern Spain. Traditionally served with coffee or tea after a holiday meal. And along with our other turrones, Tortas Imperiales are in stock. A style of hard turron in a round shape with rice paper coating, it is as beautiful as it is delicious.

These great-value reds from Bordeaux are now back in stock!
Château Larose-Trinaudon, Les Hauts de Trintaudon Haut-Médoc 2010 ($11.99) 2010 was an exceptional vintage in Bordeaux, and even modest bottles from this harvest should be snapped up. Les Hauts de Trintaudon 2010 is an unoaked blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. Medium to full-bodied it offers up aromas of red fruit with hints of earth. Well structured with ripe tannins, its ripe black cherry fruit has length and balanced acidity. We had this with paella last night and it was fantastic!
Château Larose-Trinaudon, Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois 2010 ($18.99) The big brother to Les Hauts de Trintaudon, it’s also 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, but aged in French oak for 12 months. Shows beautifully ripened black and red fruit with notes of vanilla spice. Round and dense with noticeable grip, it has a hint of earth. Very fresh with a silky texture.
