We will be closed this Easter Sunday, April 12. Without family and friends gathering for the holiday, it will feel different this year. On a promising note, the weather forecast is for sunny and warm weather, so we can enjoy the outdoors as long as we stay 6 feet away from people, and don’t go to a city park (which will be closed for the weekend). At home, this weather is perfect for making paella outdoors, on a paella burner. We’ve got plenty of burners, pans and paella ingredients in stock, and you can also cook paella indoors on the stove if you don’t have a deck or backyard. Get your gear and ingredients before Sunday either online at parismadridgrocery.com (click on the yellow Order & Pick Up button to bring up our product list), call and order by phone if you have questions, or shop in person. Best wishes for a great holiday!
PADRON PEPPER PLANTS are now for sale.. You’ll need to keep them indoors for a few more weeks, until the evening temperature remains at 50 degrees. Plant them in a pot or in the ground in a sunny place, and start harvesting peppers in July. If you haven’t tried Padron peppers yet, pick them when they are about 3 inches long. Sauté them in olive oil, turning them so each side cooks and blisters. Toss with sea salt and eat as a snack. Warning: They are addicting, and about 10% are hot, which adds to the fun of eating them.
We keep adding products to our online Order & Pick Up platform, so keep checking back. Our wine selection online is increasing, and we’ve now got several rosés. We love rosado wines here, and sipping one makes it feel like you’re at a beach resort somewhere.
Rosados in stock:
Protocolo Rosado 2018, Vina La Tierra de Castilla ($8.99) This is a super value in a dry rosé. Light salmon color with savory hints, this is a great wine to pair with barbequed foods.
Bargemone Rosé 2018, Aix en Provence ($14.99) This is the quintessential Provence rosé, and it is just as fresh and bright as ever. It shows great minerality and crisp wild strawberry notes. Perfect for sipping on a sunny day!
Rezebal Txakoli rosé, Getaria 2019 ($14.99) Just arrived! Txakoli wines are extremely light on the palate and low in alcohol (10.5%) – a great wine for day drinking. It also has a slight spritz which adds a festive element when sipping it. Made from 80% Hondarrabi Belta and 20% Hondarrabi Zuri, this bone-dry pink wine is fantastic with shellfish.
