NEW TURRON: El Almendro Turron has arrived! A favorite across Spain that has been produced since 1883, we now have El Almendro’s Alicante (hard) and Jijona (creamy and soft) turrons in stock. We have El Almendro’s assortment box of turron and snack-size boxes of Crunchy Almond Turron with Orange, Almond Turron with Sea Salt, and Almond Crocantini Turron Chocolate. From La Casa, we have Turron de Chocolate Crujiente (Chocolate Crispy Nougat), Praline de Crema Catalana, and Praline de Café in stock. We also have Alicante and Jijona turrons from E. Moreno.
Glorious Cheeses in stock: Special, splurge-worthy cheeses have arrived for the holidays. They are fantastic gifts for a loved one or oneself.
Brillat-Savarin Affiné: A soft-ripened cow’s milk cheese with a 72% fat content that makes it a truly full-flavored and creamy fromage. Velvety, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth decadent. Pair this with Champagne!
Breibirousse d’Argental: A pasteurized sheep’s milk cheese from Lyon with a creamy, brie-like texture and a faintly sweet finish on the palate. The soft-ripened rind is colored with annatto, giving it a striking look on a cheeseboard. Buttery, with hints of meadow and hay give this fromage great complexity.
Beaufort d’Été, is a raw-milk cow cheese from Savoie. The cow’s summer diet of fresh grass and flowers lends extra flavor components to the cheese. Its texture is smooth and creamy, and its flavor is nutty and floral-reminiscent of a traditional Gruyere, but subtler and with deeper nuance and complexity. Enjoy with rustic bread or melt it into fondue. It also pairs wonderfully with a glass of tawny port.
Ovelha Amanteigado is a raw sheep milk, vegetarian cheese from Beira Alta, Portugal. This stupendous cheese from Queijos Tavares has a buttery soft texture. The use of thistle rennet imparts a slightly sour tang that along with hints of lanolin from the raw sheep milk makes for a heady combination. Yet, the overall flavor remains more delicate and nuanced than overwhelming with floral, pastoral notes. This is a cheese that is so oozy soft that you can scoop it out with a cracker. Fabulous.
Sumptuous Holiday Cheese Plates: With our tremendous selection of French, Spanish, and Portuguese cheeses, we can assemble a special assortment of cheeses for any budget. Take the cheeses up a notch by pairing them with jams, honey, nuts, dried figs, apricots, and crackers. Choose your own assortment or order one of our holiday combinations:

NOTABLE WINES-
Reuilly Pierres Plates 2018 ($22.99) – We’re thrilled to have this delicious white back in stock. Denis Jamain’s Pierres Plates is his best Sauvignon Blanc vineyard, named after all the “flat” fossil-encrusted limestone rocks in its soil. This bottling is consistently one of the Loire’s finest Sauvignon Blancs, showing delicate lime and floral with a chalky core. Mineral-laden and complex, it evolves on the palate as it opens up with air. Even if you don’t like Sauvignon Blanc, you will fall for this one as I did. Superb with oysters!
Goyo Garcia Joven de Viñas Viejas 2018, Ribera del Duero 2018 ($27.99) – The New York Times recently wrote about this wine and it has quickly become a staff favorite. Showing remarkable complexity, the wine offers evolving notes of black fruit, minerality, savory notes, vibrancy, touches of earth, and a lingering finish that ends with a bright cranberry note. Eric Asimov of The New York Times wrote: “Goyo García Viadero is dedicated to farming and making wine with minimal intervention. This absolutely delicious wine comes from old vines of tempranillo that are simply fermented in steel vats and bottled, without the addition of sulfur dioxide, an almost universally used stabilizer. The wine is vibrant and alive, with deep, pure flavors of dark fruits and flowers, just the bottle for a platter of sausages.”
Finca San Martin Crianza Rioja 2016 ($15.99) – SALE! REGULARLY $17.99 This vibrant and balanced Rioja is a versatile, medium-bodied, and food-friendly wine. “Crianza 2016 Finca San Martín shows the freshness and elegance of the harvest, with some initial lactic notes that blow off with a little bit of time in the glass, giving way to red berries and spices that are nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied, very silky and harmonious, with fine tannins, and it’s nicely balanced and has a clean, refreshing finish.” 91 points Wine Advocate
