HOLIDAY HOURS: Paris-Madrid Grocery will be closed on Easter Sunday, April 17. If you are preparing a special Easter meal, shop early to pick up your chorizo, chistorra or other charcuterie for brunch. A charcuterie board is excellent for brunch or as a pre-dinner snack. We’re fully stocked with paella ingredients – cook one outdoors if it’s sunny! Easter is a colorful holiday, showing off daffodil and tulip blossoms, colored eggs, and perhaps you’ll wear a new pastel-colored Easter outfit. Rosé wines are also in stock. Enjoy!
Jambon de Bayonne is back in stock. Pre-sliced, in 4 oz packages. This authentic IGP Jambon de Bayonne is produced in France. A classic, this salty cured mountain ham is excellent on a charcuterie plate or on sandwiches.
La Payesa raw cow milk cheese – We love the intense flavor of La Payesa – it makes a fantastic addition to a cheese board, or grate it and scramble with eggs, chopped piquillo peppers and chorizo. Produced on the island of Menorca in the Balearic Islands, the wheels are rubbed with olive oil and paprika and aged for 12 months to a hard texture. An intensely flavored cheese with a sharp and slightly tangy note and hints of earth.
Tea Towels: Just arrived, we’ve got several new tea towel designs that will bring color, cheer and utility to the kitchen or wine cellar. These gorgeous towels are made in France.
We now have Bottarga – Produced in Italy, Bottarga is a delicacy, enjoyed the world over. Made of dried Mullet roe, it is made by flattening and salting the roe sac and drying it, as a means of preservation probably invented by the Phoenicians. With an intense savory and salty flavor, grate the bottarga over any type of vegetable, rice or pasta to add a deep flavor. Or slice it thin and drizzle olive oil over the top. Store it in the refrigerator and pull it out when needed; it keeps indefinitely.
WINE CORNER:
Mont Marçal Brut Rosé Cava, Penedes 2019 ($14.99) Made using the traditional method of fermentation in the bottle. A blend of certified organic grape varieties, Trepat, Pinot Noir, and Garnacha. In the glass, it is a delicate blush color with a subtle nose of strawberries, peach skin, and watermelon. In the mouth, the fruit is luscious with gracefully textured bubbles on the dry finish and an echo of red fruit.
Txomin Etzaniz Rosé, Getaria Txakoli 2021 ($19.99) A delicious and lightweight rosado with low alcohol (11%) that is excellent for brunch or day drinking. Very fresh and dry with bright acidity, it shows flavors of wild strawberry and melon. Txakoli wines have a light spritz which adds to the enjoyment of the wine. Great with seafood!
Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon Mâcon-Villages 2020 ($27.99) 100% Chardonnay, farmed organically and biodynamically in southern Burgundy’s Mâconnais region. Dominique Lafon is a visionary, and early on, saw the potential of Mâcon to produce expressive and inspiring wines at accesible prices, compared to Chardonnays from the Côte de Beaune. Fermented and aged in stainless steel, 2020 Mâcon-Villages is classically styled and shows plenty of apple, mineral and nuts in the nose. Crisp acidity provides great freshness and tension. Deeply textured, this wine has plenty of richness and length that will make you wonder how Lafon makes such great wine from this humble appellation. Delicious with cream-based poultry recipes or cheese assortments.
