Easter vinho verdeParis-Madrid Grocery will be closed this Easter Sunday, April 9.   Enjoy the holiday!  The store will be open on Saturday April 8 from 10 AM – 6 PM for your pre-Easter shopping needs.

Bocadillo Pata NegraHam for the Holiday:   Spanish Jamón Serrano and Jamón Ibérico are in stock!  We can slice it to order from a whole leg, and we also carry pre-sliced and packaged Spanish and domestic Jamón, chorizo, lomo, and salchichón.  From France, we have authentic IGP Jamon de Bayonne and French-style Jambon de Paris, pre-sliced and packaged.

To serve these ham products, make a fantastic sandwich using the rustic torpedo sandwich breads we carry in our freezer which thaw in about 30 minutes.  Use condiments such as Amora mustard, flavorful extra virgin olive oil, olive spread, garlic or truffle mayonnaise on the bread.   Add cheese to the sandwich for more flavor and texture. Experiment by mixing and matching a variety of meats and cheeses!  Add other ingredients such as piquillo peppers which are especially delicious with cheese.  Serve the sandwiches at room temperature, heat them for a few minutes in the oven or toast in a panini press.

WINE CORNER – Two 2022 vintage rosés arrived this week.  Spring weather can’t be far behind!
Audebert roseDomaine Audebert rosé,  Bourgueil 2022 ($20.99)  100% Cabernet Franc grown on sand and clay soils. This family-owned winery in the Loire Valley of France has been making rosé wines since 1952.  The 2022 vintage offers up concentrated, ripe fruit notes. With a savory whisper that adds complexity, the finish is lengthy and fresh.  Three of us tasted and all loved this wine. It will pair wonderfully with the hearty dishes we’re still eating on these chilly nights, such as cassoulet or duck confit with lentils.   I am personally looking forward to enjoying it this summer with a charcuterie platter.

rezebal roseRezebal rosé, Txakoli 2022 ($15.99)  This is the best vintage yet!  Rich cherry fruit notes have a touch of spritz and bright acidity.  The typical herbal notes are a mere hint in this vintage, balanced with a robe of delicious light fruit flavors and an extremely dry finish.   Rezebal rosé and blanco pair wonderfully with most everything, including cured meats, paella, seafood, grilled vegetables.   The 2021 Rezebal blanco Txakoli is also back in stock, at the same price.

Quinta de SaesQuinta de Saes Tinto, 2018 Dão Portugal ($19.99) From Dao, nicknamed “the Burgundy of Portugal” for its elegant wines it is aged 18 months in second-year barrels.  The grapes are grown at 1640 feet in elevation; and are a blend of 25% Touriga Nacional, 25% Alfrocheiro, 25% Jaen, 25% Tinta Pinheira. “An elegant red with lovely richness, its fruit offers up blossom–red plum, violets and rose petals. Alvaro Castro and his daughter Maria grow Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, Jaen and Tinta Pinheira for this blend.”  93 points Wine & Spirits
