AND WE’VE GOT AMAZING WINES IN STOCK, SUCH AS:
Clos Cibonne Tibouren Rosé Tradition Cru Classé Cotes de Provence 2021 ($42.00) This artisanal, age-worthy rosé wine is absolutely stunning. Nuanced and complex, 2021 Tradition offers up perfectly ripened red fruit with a beautiful richness. Round on the palate, it is bright and fresh, with impeccable balance and incredible structure. With a touch of savory notes, the finish is long and mineral-laden with no discernible oak flavors. A blend of 90% Tibouren and 10% Grenache, Clos Cibonne is one of the only producers that grow the rare and finicky Tibouren grape which requires plentiful air circulation to avoid rot. As the winery is located 800 meters from the sea and experiences the hot, dry Mistral winds, they are uniquely positioned to successfully grow Tibouren. Grapes are farmed organically and fermented with native yeast and then aged for one year in 100-year-old foudres, under a layer of thin yeast. Bottled unfiltered. (2021 is the current release, due to its aging for one year in foudre.) Since 1955, Clos Cibonne has been one of eighteen “Cru Classé” vineyards in Provence which designates a classified growth property making superior wines.
Dominique & Romain Collet Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre 2020 ($46.00) Serve this with oysters, shellfish or any type of finfish. “Notes of citrus zest, fresh bread, beeswax, dried white flowers and oyster shell preface the 2020 Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre, a medium to full-bodied, satiny wine that’s bright and concentrated, with racy acids and a long, penetrating finish. Collet harvests relatively ripe grapes and conducts fermentation and élevage in a variety of vessels, including stainless steel, concrete eggs and oak in formats ranging between old foudres and new barrels. Since before COVID-19, the wines seem to have taken another step up in quality; better integrated wood influence and even more vibrant flavors, despite seemingly ever-warmer vintages, mark this out as an estate to follow closely.” 93 points Wine Advocate
Las Uvas de la Ira 2020, Sierra de Gredos 2020 ($39.99) A must-try for fans of Grenache-based wines! Miles away from the typical concentrated style many people associate with the grape, Las Uvas de la Ira is lifted and elegant. It offers up savory yet fresh red fruit, spice, and dry, chalky tannins. This is 100% old-vine Garnacha (Grenache) grown organically in Mentrida’s high-elevation vineyards, at 750-800 meters elevation. Fermented whole cluster then aged in large foudre for 10 months. “…tons of spices, wild berries, herbs and flowers with a note of pollen. This is medium-bodied and balanced, with very fine grainy tannins.” 93 points Wine Advocate
